Open iTunes, press shuffle & play and these are the first ten songs that come up:
1. Hemmorage (in my Hand) by Fuel Don't even know why I have this, I don't have the album...just this one song by them. I think it was the most played song of the year it came out in alternative music. Q101 baby! (Chicago gals will know what I'm talking about).
2. Today by the Smashing Pumpkins This reminds me of college. I had a friend on my floor; Simon, and he was an absolute nut for SP and said they were the best.band.ever. I disagree but I love having memories of the boys in my dorm!
3. Tell Mama by Etta James Etta was introduced to me when I was 16 by another lifeguard. I had it originally on tape, recorded off my friend's copy. I have since seen this awesome woman in concert (back in '06 when she was like 65). I am happy FloRida uses a sample of her on "Good Feeling" but I'm always sad when she stops singing and he starts rapping when I hear it LOL.
4. I won't be Ignored by Linkin Park All of Linkin Park reminds me of my senior year of College and working at my internship in Madison, WI. I listened to this album every day that summer driving to Mad Town.
5. Silent all these Years by Tori Amos I college friend intro'd me to Tori and I am forever greatful. But it was in my "Angry chick music" phase....it lasted longer than it should have, but gave me some great tunes.
6. The Space Between by Dave Mathews Band Not the best DMB song, but all of them (that I own) remind me of college...it's like I graduated college and don't know anything they released after then.
7. The Boxer by Simon & Garfunkle This was from my "I'm hippie-chic" phase of music, it's one of the few albums that both Jeff and I own independently.
8. I'm not Cryin' for You by Save Ferris Ah, SKA! Anyone remember SKA? Mighty Mighty Bos Tones? The original No Doubt music? Well then Save Ferris is for you! My High School friend Joy intro'd me to Save Ferris.
9. Late at Night by Buffalo Tom Any girl that was 15 and watching the show "My So Called Life" feeling like the show was sooooo much about their life would need to own this song. And P.S. Jordan Catalano is hot :P (And yes, I do own that show on DVD, and re-live being 15 about every two years).
10. On My Own from the Les Miserables soundtrack from broadway My 18th birthday gift from my parents was my BFF and I going downtown Chicago to see Les Mis. And I also love the Dawson's Creek episode where Joey sings this for a "talent" in a pagent.
** Is it clear now my age from this list and comments? I would just like to say, that aside from #3 and #7 and #10....I think it's clear that I spent much of my growing up in the 90's. In the 90's I was age 13 to 23...which I think is when most people buy the most of their music.
